Mirchi Music Awards South 2012 were presented amidst glitter and glamour on Friday in Chennai Trade Center, Chennai. The evening was marked by the academy award winning composer AR Rahman received the 'Global Music Icon' award from the hands of iconic singer SP Balasubramanyam, Music director Koti, Star producer D. Suresh Babu etc. The iconic singer SP Balu was awarded 'Sangeetha Samrat' and Veteran singer Jamuna Rani was felicitated with 'Lifetime Achievement Award'.
The Mirchi Music Awards South 2012 were then awarded to the chartbusting music talent and Gabbar Singh topped the list with five awards including Best Album Of the year (Jury), Best Album (Listeners choice), Best song (Jury), Best song (Listeners' choice) and Music director (Devi Sri Prasad). SP Balu received Best male singer award for the film 'Sirdi Sai', Chitra, the best female singer award for 'Devasthanam'.
Suresh Babu, Nani Ramana Gogula, Sunitha, Rana and several other prominent celebrities from South Indian Film Industry have graced the occasion.
